April 23, 2008. First annual community cleanup in Hermon success!
The first annual Hermon Community Cleanup is now complete. Even though volunteer turn out was lower than expected, it was a good first year. In less than 2 hours, the trailer below was at compacity with a variety of items including:
- 10-12 bags of litter
- wicker table
- sofa mattress and frame
- 1 tractor trailer tire
- 1 commercial size printer
- 2 unopened gallons of paint
- car parts
- scrap metals, glass, aluminum, rubber
- cardboard, styrofoam, a variety of plastics
- and much much more!
Such a project would ideally take a group of 25-50 people, which both the town and state cannot provide. Helping improve the environment, making your surroundings cleaner and safer, is rewarding and provides a sense of pride!
